Sneaker Hive

Steel Wall Version 1.0

PLA 3D printed Wall Version 2.0

This was a freshman final project that was refined over my years in college. I needed a compact, and easy to travel with, way of storing and displaying my sneakers.

Exhibiting the design of sneakers was not my first intention. I wanted a way to easily grasp and put on my shoes while providing a space to keep them out of the way. Starting with steel walls and wooden shelves, version 1.0 fit the criteria of the school project but was not modular, and weighed far too much.

With version 2.0, I designed 3D printed walls that were infinitely stackable, and could easily replace the current steel walls. However, the price of scrap steel is far cheaper than the cost of PLA plastic filament - given the size of the hive that is.
