My boss at furniture design studio, Axo Axonic, tasked me with designing a chair of my own creation. My thought process was to have a the body supported by something other than a cushion or hard surface. What I came up with was a mostly organic shape of two wooden legs separated by steel tubing and entirely enclosed in a tube of neoprene - allowing for a soft and springy seat that makes you feel like you’re floating.
My boss engineered the steel tube mechanism that allows the wooden legs to be separated and without him or his resources, I would have had a much tougher time getting the chair created.
The chair is currently for sale and we are able to have any image laminated on top (such as the French painting shown above). Or, if a solid color is what you’d prefer, we can have just the neoprene exposed. Either way, it is an extremely comfortable chair and I’m very proud of the work and effort put into it.
